SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Bil" Ford Jr. of Geneseo, formerly of East Moline, who passed away on October 5, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Bil Ford was born to William and Opal Henderson Ford Sr. in Detroit, Michigan on November 9, 1937; he served in the 8th Armored Victory Division, Company C, 81st Medium Tank Battalion of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan; he married Nancy J. Lincke in Rock Island on November 21, 1958, and she preceded him in death on June 13, 2009; he was a graduate of the FBI Academy; and

WHEREAS, Bil Ford retired as a lieutenant from the East Moline Police Department; he later became a realtor, selling real estate in Arizona with his wife; and

WHEREAS, Bil Ford was preceded in death by his parents; his twin children, Darbey and Terri; his child, Colleen Ford; and his sister, Dorothy; and

WHEREAS, Bil Ford is survived by his children, Steve Ford and Kellie (Philip Thiel) Van Meter-Thiel; his grandchildren, Shannon, Brandon, Joann Jean, and Travis; his great-grandchildren, Ashley Marie and Aurora; and his sister, Ruth Ford; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William "Bil" Ford Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bil Ford as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
