SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Billy C. Brooks of Mechanicsburg, who
4passed away on March 18, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Billy Brooks was born in Springfield to Carl and
6Carlton (Guernsey) Brooks on October 23, 1944; he graduated
7from Tri-City High School in 1962, where he was active in the
8Future Farmers of America and earned a varsity letter in cross
9country; he earned a bachelor's degree in Agronomy from the
10University of Illinois; he married Carol Sue Briggs in
11Mechanicsburg on February 28, 1975; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Billy Brooks was a lifelong farmer and retired
13pharmacy technician; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Billy Brooks was a volunteer at multiple animal
15shelters, a regular blood donor, and a longtime member of the
16Sangamon County Farm Bureau; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Billy Brooks enjoyed spending time with his
18family, working on the farm, reading, hiking, and traveling;
19he attended Fountain of Life UM Church in Buffalo; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Billy Brooks was preceded in death by his

1parents; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Billy Brooks is survived by his wife, Sue; his
3children, Steven Wayne Hunter, Scott Howard Brooks, Erin
4Gracie Brooks, Paul William Brooks, and Michael Carl Brooks;
5his grandchildren, April Hunter, Jennifer Brooks, Stephanie
6Hunter, Bobby Brooks, Karl Brooks, William Brooks, and
7Madeline Brooks; his great-grandchildren, Gracie Conover, Noah
8Smith, Beckham Smith, Carmen Bakunis, Gunner Barnes, Gatlin
9Peterson, and Declan Brooks; and his sister, Patricia
10Bolattino; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Billy C. Brooks and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Billy Brooks as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
