SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert D. "Bob" Horner of Streator, who
4passed away on February 4, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Horner was born in Butler, Pennsylvania to
6Robert and Hettie (Steele) Horner on October 11, 1944; he moved
7to Illinois in 1961; he graduated from Marseilles High School
8in 1962; he graduated from Western Illinois University in 1967;
9he married Marcia I. Gilbertson in Marseilles on August 17,
101968; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bob Horner was a teacher and coach at Woodland
12High School; he retired in 2000 after 33 years of service; he
13later drove a school bus from 2004 until 2017; he was an
14Illinois High School Association (IHSA) official for
15basketball, baseball, and volleyball for 35 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bob Horner was a longtime member and Past Exalted
17Ruler of the Streator Elks Club; he was also a member of the
18Marshall County Sportsman's Club, where he served as secretary
19and director; he coached his son in youth baseball for many
20years; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his son
21and grandsons; he also liked gardening and growing raspberries
22for his family, especially the grandchildren; nothing was more

1important to him than attending his grandchildren's baseball,
2football, and volleyball games and dance recitals; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bob Horner was preceded in death by his wife,
4Marcia; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Horner is survived by his son, Jeff (Staci)
6Horner; his grandchildren, Cahill, Caden, and Cambri Horner;
7and his sister, Elaine (Bill) Griglione; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Robert D. "Bob" Horner and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Bob Horner as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
