SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of LeRoy "Roy" Schultz of Silvis, who passed away on December 18, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Roy Schultz was born in Moline to Harry and Lunette Schulte Schultz on December 19, 1924; he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for three years during World War II, 16 of those months in the South Pacific; after the war, he served in the Air Force Reserve for an additional three years; he married Betty J. Hart at St. Anne Catholic Church in East Moline on November 15, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Roy Schultz retired from the Electronic Data Systems Corporation in 1989; and

WHEREAS, Roy Schultz was a member of American Legion Post 227 in East Moline, where he was active with the Honor Guard; he was also a life member of East Moline Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 256; he volunteered at Illini Hospital for many years; and

WHEREAS, Roy Schultz was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Linda; and his son, Dennis Schultz; and

WHEREAS, Roy Schultz is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty; his daughter, Gail (Dan) Turf; his son, Bruce (Connie) Schultz; his daughter-in-law, Denise Schultz; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Fred (Shirley) Schultz, Russ (Gayle) Schultz, and Laura (Tom) Visconi; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of LeRoy "Roy" Schultz and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roy Schultz as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
