SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elizabeth "Bette" Ann Rackauskas of
4Bloomington, who passed away on November 24, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas was born in St. Paul, Minnesota
6to Lt. Col. (USMC) Richard Karl and Harriet McCarr Davis; she
7graduated from Sacred Heart of Mary High School in Rolling
8Meadows and continued her education at the Cook County School
9of Nursing; she earned her registered nursing license at the
10St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago in
111974; she married Dr. Gregory George Rackauskas on October 26,
121974; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas began her career at Cook County
14Hospital and continued with opportunities in Bloomington,
15where she and her husband started his private dental practice;
16throughout her life, she held many roles when working in
17medical practices, in interior design, and in her volunteer
18activities; she was generous with her time, her creativity, and
19her leadership skills; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas served her community as a Girl
21Scout Troop leader and an active supporter of the Central
22Catholic High School Parents Club; she helped raise funds for

1the American Red Cross; she was an appointed member of the
2Bloomington Planning Commission and a member of the
3Bloomington-Normal Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of
4Directors; she spent a decade as an elected official on the
5McLean County Board; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas was full of love and especially
7enjoyed cooking for her family; she welcomed everyone into her
8home and supported her children in all their endeavors; she
9made every holiday magical and loved teaching her children
10about their Lithuanian heritage; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas was preceded in death by her
12parents and her brother, CPT (US Army) Casey Davis; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bette Rackauskas is survived by her husband of 45
14years, Greg; her children, Analiesa (Michael) Dickson, Dr.
15Vanessa Rackauskas, CDR (US Navy) Preston (Bridget)
16Rackauskas, Jarrod (Kelly) Rackauskas, Dr. Cassandra (Cory)
17Matney, Lorelei Samuelson, Natasha (Brandon) Long, and
18Marshall Rackauskas; her grandchildren, Madeline, Paxton,
19Jack, Eli, Christianson, Ava, Clark, Harper, Clyde, and
20Josephine; her brothers, Michael (Doreen) Davis, Kelly
21(Debbie) Davis, and LTC (US Army) Patrick (Elizabeth) Davis;
22and her sisters, Mary Davis Schoneman, Terri (Rick) Kerwin, and
23Kathleen (Eric) Barr; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Elizabeth "Bette" Ann Rackauskas and extend our sincere
4condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
5her; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Bette Rackauskas as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
