SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marcy Kubat, who passed away on September
413, 2019 at the age of 92; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marcy Kubat was born on July 19, 1927 in Chicago;
6she was a longtime resident of the Oak Park/River Forest area
7and lived most recently in Naperville; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marcy Kubat earned her bachelor's degree from
9Loyola University and worked as an executive assistant in the
10dental school at the University of Illinois; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marcy Kubat was a dedicated member of the Phi
12Sigma Society; after she retired, she pursued her passions for
13literacy and the arts; she was a prolific writer and public
14speaker, as well as an enthusiastic oil painter; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Marcy Kubat and her late partner, Lee Brooke,
16collaborated in the publication of many books, mainly based on
17Oak Park and River Forest and focused on its history,
18buildings, and people; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Marcy Kubat also had a passion for music; she sang
20tenor in choral performances and enjoyed listening to opera,

1classical, and religious music; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Marcy Kubat will be remembered by those she called
3friends not only for her legacy of paintings, books, and
4performances but also for her big personality and unique and
5vibrant hair; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Marcy Kubat was preceded in death by her longtime
7partner, Wilfred "Lee" Brooke, and her siblings, Eugene Kubat,
8Mary Kay Romeo, and Delphine (the late Joseph) Fitzgibbons; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marcy Kubat is survived by her brother-in-law, Lou
10Romeo; her sister-in-law, Joyce Kubat; and her nephews, Michael
11and Patrick Fitzgibbons; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Marcy Kubat and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
15friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Marcy Kubat as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
