SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gerald Dean Augsburger of Normal, who
4passed away on October 3, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dean Augsburger was born in Flanagan to Elmer and
6Mabel Yordy Augsburger on September 16, 1921; he served in the
7U.S. Army during World War II in Europe and spent three
8consecutive birthdays far from home; at the end of the war, he
9was stationed near his family's ancestral home in Germany; he
10married Mary Etta Campbell in Pontiac on May 21, 1949; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dean Augsburger owned his own plumbing business in
12Flanagan until the early 1970s, when he moved to
13Bloomington-Normal and partnered with his brother Joseph at
14Augsburger Plumbing; he continued to work in the plumbing trade
15until his late 80s; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dean Augsburger's outside interests included golf
17and following the Chicago Bears; he doted on his grandchildren
18and spent countless hours with them; he was proud to be an
19American and flew the U.S. flag wherever he lived; he was a
20member of First United Methodist Church in Normal and several
21fraternal and service organizations during his years in
22Flanagan; and

1    WHEREAS, Dean Augsburger was preceded in death by his wife,
2Mary; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dean Augsburger is survived by his children,
4Jeffrey (Barbara) and Dennis Augsburger; his grandchildren,
5Brad (Amy Harrison) Augsburger and Laurel (Aaron) Davis; and
6his siblings, Delbert and Donald Augsburger and Florence
7Bryant; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Gerald Dean Augsburger and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Dean Augsburger as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
