SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Wallace D. "Wally" Furrow of El Paso, who passed away on April 27, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Wally Furrow was born in rural El Paso to Caldwell B. and Alma Duncan Furrow on January 18, 1933; he married Lorene Bess in El Paso on August 4, 1953 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955 in the 82nd Airborne; and

WHEREAS, Wally Furrow was the owner and operator of El Paso Grain, Sun Ag Inc., Furrow Winery, and Furrow Trucking, all in El Paso; he farmed all his life and worked with his son and grandson at Furrow Farms for the last several years; and

WHEREAS, Wally Furrow was the state director of USDA Rural Development; he was a past president of the Illinois Feed and Grain Association and the Illinois Wine Association; he served and participated in many professional and community organizations; and

WHEREAS, Wally Furrow was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; he loved nothing more than providing for and spending time with his family; he was a member of the Community Bible Fellowship in El Paso; he had a great zest for life and lived it to the absolute fullest; and

WHEREAS, Wally Furrow was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dennis Furrow; and his sister, Shirley Toole; and

WHEREAS, Wally Furrow is survived by his wife, Lorene; his son, Wayne (Annette) Furrow; his daughter, Lori (Brad) Smitheram; his sister, Judy Stimpert; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Wallace D. "Wally" Furrow and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wally Furrow as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
