SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death James R. "Jim" Spencer of Champaign, who passed away on March 24, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Jim Spencer was born in Danville to Charles and Margaret (Mugsy) Spencer on June 30, 1949; he attended Holy Cross Catholic School, where he was an altar boy, and graduated from Central High School in Champaign; and

WHEREAS, Jim Spencer was a director for the Champaign Park District, where his accomplishments included the development of many parks, the installation of the only skate park, and the renovation of the Virginia Theater; and

WHEREAS, Jim Spencer was respected by many and was known for his relentless pursuit of justice, his guidance, and his compassion; family was a powerful driving force in his life, and he loved his children dearly; and

WHEREAS, Jim Spencer was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby; and

WHEREAS, Jim Spencer is survived by his wife, Judy Ciambotti; his children, Gia Ciambotti, Joel Spencer, Sunny Brown, and Rachel Spencer; his brothers, Charles, John, Steve, and Mike Spencer; and his brothers' families; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James R. "Jim" Spencer and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Spencer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
