SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Nelson "Jay" McCormick of Peoria,
4who passed away on February 26, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jay McCormick was born to R.G. and Frances
6McCormick; he graduated from Peoria High School and attended
7the University of Tulsa, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi
8Fraternity; he received a bachelor's degree in education from
9Illinois State University and a master's degree in
10administration from Bradley University; he married Diane
11Rouleau on August 15, 1964; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jay McCormick began his teaching career in Tinley
13Park and then returned to his alma mater, Peoria High School,
14where he was a guidance counselor and coach; he then worked as
15both an assistant principal and principal at Richwoods High
16School; after retiring, he had various jobs, including
17Friendship House interim director, Concordia Grade School
18principal, Peoria Chiefs ticket manager, and Madison Golf
19Course assistant groundskeeper; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jay McCormick was past president and an active
21member of the Rotary Club of Peoria North; he was a 60-year
22member of First Federated Church in Peoria; and

1    WHEREAS, Jay McCormick is survived by his wife, Diane; his
2son, Michael (Kathy) McCormick; his daughter, Mary (Scott)
3Mayer; his grandchildren, Jack and Brooke McCormick; and his
4sister, Judy (Dale) Lowry; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7James Nelson "Jay" McCormick and extend our sincere condolences
8to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
9it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Jay McCormick as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
