HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sharon Judith "Judy" Beck, who passed away on June 25, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Judy Beck received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Old Dominion University; and

WHEREAS, Judy Beck worked professionally as a teacher and as a United States Environmental Protection Agency Lake Michigan Manager for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Judy Beck tirelessly volunteered her time as a founding member of Save the Grove; she was a member and officer of the Grove Heritage Association, a councilperson for the Northern Illinois Planning Commission, a past president of the Illinois Association of Park Districts, and a local and State officer in the League of Women Voters; upon her retirement as the longest-serving board member of the Glenview Park District, a park was named "Judy Beck Park" in her honor; and

WHEREAS, Judy Beck had a caring heart for the entire world; she was committed to protecting the environment for the interests of all people and was a steadfast defender of Lake Michigan, wetlands, prairies, and the planet; she was a tireless advocate for parks, open spaces, and women's rights; she served her village, her State, her region, and her nation; and

WHEREAS, Judy Beck was the beloved wife of Thomas; the loving mother of Carter (Susan) and Darren (Kristina); the devoted grandmother of Oliver and Abigail; the faithful sister of Celia (Stuart) Steingold, Larry (Mitra) Newberg, Stevie (Jacie) Newberg, and the late David (Marlyn) Weinstein; and the daughter of the late Sylvan (the late Rosalin) Newberg and the late Shirley (the late Saul) Weinstein; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Sharon Judith "Judy" Beck and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Judy Beck as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
