HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Illinois Wesleyan University's men's golf team on winning the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship at the Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky on May 17; and

WHEREAS, Illinois Wesleyan has made 13 consecutive NCAA Division III championship appearances; its previous high finish was second place in 2011; IWU has won eight straight conference championships and a total of 21 conference golf titles, including 16 under head coach Jim Ott since 2001; men's golf at Illinois Wesleyan has been a part of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin since 1947; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Jim Ott was named the NCAA Division III Dave Williams National Coach of the Year presented by Golf Pride Grips; the assistant coaches are Karl Keller and Conner O'Neil; the athletic director is Mike Wagner; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Wesleyan University's men's golf team are Andrew Abel, Carl Christiansen, Daniel Cole, Michael Holtz, Ben Johnson, Austin Jump, Skylar LeVine, Jimmy Morton, Jonathan Nocek, Will Nummy, Justin Park, Drew Pershing, Justin Seymour, and Rob Wuethrich; and

WHEREAS, Drew Pershing, Ben Johnson, Andrew Abel, Skylar LeVine, and Rob Wuethrich were named Division III PING All-Central Region players; and

WHEREAS, Drew Pershing earned All-American status with his top 10 finish and tied for ninth in the championships; other members who placed are Ben Johnson, Rob Wuethrich, Andrew Abel, and Skylar LeVine; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Illinois Wesleyan University's men's golf team on winning the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship and wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the members and coaches of the Illinois Wesleyan University's men's golf team as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
