HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Wanda J. Sharp on the occasion of her retirement from the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Sharp was born in Chicago; she worked as a supervisor, safety trainer, and coordinator for the Ford Motor Company; she served on the board of trustees for the Village of Maywood and was involved with the Democratic Party; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Sharp was appointed to the Illinois House of Representatives in January 1999 and served until 2001; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Sharp has spent her life working on behalf of her community, her family, at-risk children, and criminal justice reform; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Sharp has been an active member of the Progressive Life Giving Word Church, where she has lived out the principles of her faith in her everyday life; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Sharp has been a role model and advocate for more women of color in the workplace and in positions of power; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Wanda J. Sharp on the occasion of her retirement from the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Wanda Sharp as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
