HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Today, there are only 71 living recipients of the
3Medal of Honor; these men are bound together by the medal they
4wear and by the shared passion to perpetuate its legacy of
5courage, sacrifice, and selfless service; the challenge is
6enormous and the window of opportunity is closing with the
7average age of a recipient being over 70; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation is
9celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2019; over the last 20
10years the foundation has created and launched education,
11recognition, and outreach programs that have informed millions
12of Americans about the values embodied in the Medal of Honor:
13courage and sacrifice, commitment and integrity, citizenship
14and patriotism; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Over the next 20 years, the foundation will focus
16on preserving the legacy of the Medal of Honor and the true
17American heroes who wear it; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation is
19commemorating its 20th anniversary by hosting the Salute to the
20Medal of Honor and Distinguished Citizens Award events in
21Chicago on June 6-8, 2019; and

1    WHEREAS, The Distinguished Service Award is presented to
2exceptional Americans who exemplify leadership and service and
3inspire others by selflessly giving of time and talent to the
4community and nation; this year's honorees are the Crown
5Family; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we congratulate the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation on
9its 20th anniversary and wish them continued success inspiring
10others about the values embodied in the Medal of Honor; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation as a
14symbol of our respect and esteem.
