HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate K-9 Dax and Deputy John
4Forlenza of the Lake County Sheriff's Office on Dax being named
5K-9 of the Year by the K9s of Valor Foundation, a nonprofit
6organization dedicated to supporting K-9 officers across the
7country and keeping them safe by donating life-saving and
8essential equipment; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dax and Deputy Forlenza were among the more than
10100 nominated for the award and were nominated for their many
11successful tracks finding suspected criminals and residents in
12need of help; Dax received more than 9,500 votes from the
13community; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dax's top accomplishments include finding a
15missing suicidal woman in the woods on a cold, rainy day and
16finding a domestic violence suspect who forced his way into a
17home and assaulted a woman before she was able to escape; in
18another case, Dax was punched by a robbery suspect, but he was
19still able to take down the suspect; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dax and Deputy Forlenza are a perfect example of
21the great things that happen when there is a strong partnership
22between law enforcement officers and the communities they

1serve; from finding missing, endangered people or fleeing
2offenders to showing off their skills at community events, the
3K-9 team takes great pride in serving the Lake County
4Community; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate K-9 Dax and Deputy John Forlenza on Dax being
8named K-9 of the year by the K9s of Valor Foundation, and we
9recognize their strong partnership with and service to the Lake
10County community and to the State of Illinois; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
13presented to Deputy John Forlenza and the Lake County Sheriff's
14Office as an expression of our esteem and respect.
