HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The University of Illinois is one of the world's best research institutions; and

WHEREAS, The University has campuses in Chicago, Urbana-Champaign, and Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Undergraduate students at all three campuses engage in research on cutting-edge topics under the guidance of their professors; and

WHEREAS, Northern Illinois University is recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in the category of Research Universities; and

WHEREAS, Northern Illinois University is among the small percentage of public institutions designated as Innovation and Economic Prosperity Universities by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities; and

WHEREAS, Northern Illinois University has campuses in DeKalb, Chicago, Hoffman Estates, Naperville, and Rockford; and

WHEREAS, Students from both universities are making poster presentations about their research for the Illinois Innovation Network Research Day in the State Capitol on May 2, 2019; and

WHEREAS, The students have received excellent guidance from staff and faculty at both universities in preparation for this day; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend our congratulations to all of the University of Illinois and Northern Illinois University students and their advisors for their creativity and inquisitiveness; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to University of Illinois at Chicago Chancellor Michael Amiridis, University of Illinois at Springfield Chancellor Susan Koch, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Chancellor Robert Jones, and Northern Illinois University President Lisa Freeman.
