HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Brett A. Korves of St. Jacob, who passed away on April 4, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Brett Korves was born in Belleville to Jack and Shelly (Tribout) Korves on March 9, 1989; he married Alex Steinkoenig in Collinsville on October 17, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Brett Korves was a third generation firefighter and a ten-year veteran of the Swansea Fire Department, where he worked as a paid, on-call firefighter; in 2012, the fire department's command staff voted him firefighter of the year, and he won, in part, because of the work he put in as one of the leaders of the department's cadet program; he also worked as a delivery driver for a company in north St. Louis County; and

WHEREAS, Brett Korves was an accomplished dirt-track racer; he was a two-time track champion at Belle-Clair Speedway, where he was known as "#25 The Kid Korves" and was a two-time rookie of the year; he was loved by the racing community; he was a member of the AARA; he was always ready to help and worked many church and homecoming picnics with the Tribout's family business; and

WHEREAS, Brett Korves was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Korves; and

WHEREAS, Brett Korves is survived by his wife, Alex; his son, Brock Korves; his parents; his brother, Todd (Rachelle) Korves; his sister, Kayla (Chris) Bishop; his nephew, Jack Bishop; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Brad and Karen Steinkoenig; his brother-in-law, Jacob (Macy Anderson) Steinkoenig; his grandparents, Dennis and Kay Tribout, Patricia Korves, Larry and Judy Hooton, and Harvey Steinkoenig; his aunts and uncles, Denny and Jessica Tribout Jr., Sherri and Larry Glaenzer, Patty Schrage, and James and Gail Korves; his niece, Saylor O'Connor; his nephew, Camden O'Connor; and his many cousins and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Brett A. Korves and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Brett Korves as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
