Amends the Telecommunication Line Tapping Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning punishment for violations of the Act.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning criminal law.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Telecommunication Line Tapping Act is amended by changing Section 1 as follows:

(720 ILCS 145/1) (from Ch. 134, par. 16)

Sec. 1. Any person who shall within this state wrongfully tap or connect a wire with the the telegraph or telephone wires of any person, company or association engaged in the transmission of news or telegraph or telephone lines between the states or in this state for the purpose of wrongfully taking or making use of the news dispatches of such person, company or association, or of its customers, shall be deemed guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.
