SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/9-1.1  from Ch. 122, par. 9-1.1

    Amends the School Code. Provides that, notwithstanding any other provision of law, beginning on the effective date of the amendatory Act, all referenda containing public questions pertaining to the issuance of bonds must be submitted to the voters of a school district at the next general election in accordance with the general election law. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
59-1.1 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/9-1.1)  (from Ch. 122, par. 9-1.1)
7    Sec. 9-1.1. Referenda.
8    (a) Whenever a proposition or public question is required
9to be submitted pursuant to this Code Act for approval or
10rejection by the electorate at an election, the time and manner
11of conducting such referendum shall be in accordance with the
12general election law of the State.
13    (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, beginning
14on the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 101st
15General Assembly, all referenda containing public questions
16pertaining to the issuance of bonds under this Code must be
17submitted to the voters of a school district at the next
18general election in accordance with the general election law.
19This subsection does not apply to public questions submitted
20prior to the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 101st
21General Assembly.
