Biography: Full-time legislator. Former founder and president of Hathaway Insurance Agency, Inc. in Maywood, Il. Licensed insurance agent and realtor, with a B.A. in business management from Chicago State University and an M.A. in inner city studies from Northeastern Illinois University. Past president of the Maywood Chamber of Commerce, and board member of the United Way of Suburban Chicago, Proviso United Way and the Oak Park YMCA, currently serving on the board of directors of the Maywood Chamber of Commerce, The Way Back Inn, and a supporter of scholarship programs. Twin legislative themes are public health and public safety. Recognized for championing the Smoke-Free Illinois law & Operation Ceasefire- the campaign to end violence in affected communities.
