    AN ACT to amend the Hospital Licensing  Act  by  amending
Section 6.18.

    Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5.  The Hospital  Licensing  Act  is  amended  by
changing Section 6.18 as follows:

    (210 ILCS 85/6.18)
    Sec.  6.18.  Instruction on cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR) Heimlich maneuver to mothers of newborns.  As  part  of
the  process  of discharging a newborn infant, a hospital may
provide  the  infant's  mother  with  material  prepared  and
provided by the Department instructing the mother on  how  to
properly   perform  cardiopulmonary  resuscitation  (CPR)  in
accordance with American  Heart  Association  guidelines  the
Heimlich  maneuver  on the infant.  The hospital shall answer
the mother's questions regarding CPR the maneuver.

    Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
becoming law.
