AN ACT concerning regulation.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by |
adding Section 356u.5 as follows:
|
(215 ILCS 5/356u.5 new) |
Sec. 356u.5. Coverage for genetic testing for breast and |
ovarian cancer susceptibility. A group or individual policy of |
accident and health insurance that is amended, delivered, |
issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2024 shall provide |
coverage for the cost of the genetic testing of the BRCA1 and |
BRCA2 genes to detect an increased risk for breast and ovarian |
cancer if recommended by a health care provider in accordance |
with the United States Preventive Services Task Force's |
recommendations for testing.
