AN ACT concerning education.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
14-8.02i as follows:

Sec. 14-8.02i. ABLE account program information. Beginning |
with the 2023-2024 school year, a school district shall |
provide informational material about the Achieving a Better |
Life Experience (ABLE) account program established under |
Section 16.6 of the State Treasurer Act to the parent or |
guardian of a student at the student's annual individualized |
education program (IEP) review meeting, whether the annual |
review meeting is held in person, convened remotely, or |
convened in any other manner. The Office of the State |
Treasurer shall prepare and deliver the informational material |
to the State Board of Education, and the State Board of |
Education shall distribute the informational material to |
school districts. |
A school may transmit the informational material to a |
parent or guardian in the same manner as other documents and |
information related to an IEP meeting are provided to the |
parent or guardian.
