AN ACT concerning government.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The Flag Display Act is amended by adding |
Section 15 as follows:
|
(5 ILCS 465/15 new) |
Sec. 15. Bicentennial 21-star United States flag. |
Notwithstanding any provisions of this Act to the contrary, for |
the period of time spanning December 3, 2017 through December |
31, 2018, a United States flag bearing 21 stars shall be flown |
from the flag pole of the Illinois State Capitol Building in |
celebration of Illinois' bicentennial as the 21st state to join |
the Union. Such flag shall conform to the requirements set |
forth in Section 5 of the Official United States Flag Act, and |
any other applicable requirements under this Act concerning the |
respectful care and display of a United States flag. This |
Section is repealed January 1, 2019.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
becoming law.
