AN ACT concerning utilities.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding |
Section 8-209 as follows:

(220 ILCS 5/8-209 new) |
Sec. 8-209. Utility credit reporting. If a public utility |
reports a customer to a credit reporting agency for non-payment |
of an outstanding utility bill, then a public utility shall |
notify the credit reporting agency within 5 business days of |
any full payment made with certified funds or cash. For the |
purposes of this amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly, |
certified funds means instruments that are guaranteed by the |
issuing institution or have cleared the issuing institution.
