AN ACT concerning business.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
Veterans' Monument Protection Act.
|
Section 5. Prohibited acts. It is a violation of this Act |
for any business or recyclable metal dealer, as defined in the |
Recyclable Metal Purchase Registration Law, to purchase, |
accept, or give anything of value in exchange for any metal |
taken from the grave marker of a veteran.
|
Section 10. Cemetery notification. Upon discovering that |
metal from the grave marker of a veteran is missing, a cemetery |
official shall notify the local law enforcement agency and, if |
possible, the family of the deceased veteran.
|
Section 15. Penalties. A business or recyclable metal |
dealer who commits a violation of this Act is guilty of a |
business offense and shall be fined a maximum of $1,000 per |
grave marker.
|
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
becoming law.
