AN ACT concerning revenue.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by changing |
Section 20-160 as follows:
|
(35 ILCS 200/20-160)
|
Sec. 20-160. Office may be declared vacant. If any county |
collector
fails to account and pay over as required in Sections |
20-140 and
20-150, the office may be declared vacant by the |
circuit
county board, or by any court of the judicial circuit |
in which the county seat is located and
in which suit is |
brought on his or her official bond. If such a suit is brought |
in the circuit court and, based on preliminary evidence, the |
court determines that it is necessary that a temporary county |
collector be appointed, then the county board may, subject to |
the consent of the court, appoint an interim county collector |
to serve for the duration of the suit.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
