Senate Sponsors: DILLARD. Short description: CNTY CD-TRUANCY ORDINANCES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Counties Code. Authorizes county boards to enact an ordinance to prohibit any person who is subject to the compulsory school attendance requirements set out in the School Code and who is enrolled in a public, private, or parochial school within the county from absenting himself or herself from school without valid cause. Provides that the ordinance may also prohibit a parent, legal guardian, or other person having custody or control of such a person from permitting the person to absent himself or herself from school without valid cause. Provides that the ordinance may establish penalties for a violation as provided in the Counties Code. Provides that the ordinance is not limited by the provisions of the School Code requiring available supportive services and other school resources for the student. Effective immediately.
