Senate Sponsors: MADIGAN,L. Short description: MEDICAID-CONTROL DRUG SPENDING Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Requires the Department of Public Aid to establish a Medicaid prescribed-drug spending-control program. Limits the number and amount of drugs that may be dispensed. Authorizes the Department to establish prior authorization requirements. Provides for the Department's establishment of a preferred drug formulary, based on recommendations from the Medicaid Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee, which is created within the Department. Requires the Department to establish an advisory committee to study the feasibility of using a restricted drug formulary for institutionalized adults. Effective immediately.
