Short description: 
VEH CD-SCHOOL BUS-CELL PHONES                                              

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code.  Provides  that  a  school  bus      
   driver  may  not  operate  a  school  bus while using a cellular radio      
   telecommunication  device.      Creates   exceptions   for   emergency      
   situations.   Provides  that a violation is a petty offense punishable      
   by a fine of not less than $100 and not  more  than  $250.   Effective      
   immediately.                                                                
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
        Provides that the prohibition does not apply when the school  bus      
   is parked.                                                                  
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Allows   school   bus   drivers   to   use   a   cellular   radio      
   telecommunication device owned and operated  by  the  school  district      
   that  has  a two-way radio service capability while operating a school      
   bus provided the telecommunication device is used as a two-way radio.
