Short description: 
CRIM PRO-SPEEDY TRIAL PERIOD                                               

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963.  Changes from  120      
   days  to  110 days the time period within which a person must be tried      
   after being taken into custody if not on bail or recognizance and from      
   160 days to 150 days the time period within which  a  person  must  be      
   tried  after  demanding  trial  if  the person was released on bail or      
   recognizance. Adds procedures for determining what periods are or  are      
   not  counted.   Provides  that, if the court rules that the applicable      
   time period for trying a defendant has expired, the court must set the      
   case for trial within 10 days, except as otherwise  specified.   Makes      
   other changes.
