Short description: 
TAXES-EXEMPT TELECOM EQUIPMENT                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Use Tax Act, the Service  Use  Tax  Act,  the  Service      
   Occupation  Tax Act, and the Retailers' Occupation Tax Act.  Beginning      
   January 1, 2002, exempts telecommunications equipment that is consumed      
   or  used  directly  and  predominantly   in   the   operation   of   a      
   telecommunications  business  or  Internet  service  business from the      
   taxes imposed by these Acts.  Amends the State Mandates Act to require      
   implementation without reimbursement.  Effective immediately.               
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
          Deletes reference to:                                                
          35 ILCS 105/3-5                                                      
          35 ILCS 110/3-5                                                      
          35 ILCS 115/3-5                                                      
          35 ILCS 120/2-5                                                      
          30 ILCS 805/8.25 new                                                 
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          35 ILCS 120/14                  from Ch. 120, par. 453               
        Replaces  everything  after  the  enacting  clause.   Amends  the      
   Retailers' Occupation Tax Act.  Makes technical changes in  a  Section      
   concerning the short title.
