Short description:
VOTER REGISTRATION-INTERNET PO

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Amends the Election Code and the Secretary of State Act.
Requires the State Board of Elections and the Secretary of State to
post certain voter registration information on their World Wide Web
   sites. Effective immediately.
FISCAL NOTE (State Board of Elections)
HB 5956 would cost the State Board of Elections approximately
$20,000 to hire as a consultant a bilingual programmer to
design and develop a downloadable, printable voter registra-
          tion form in Spanish.
FISCAL NOTE (Office of Secretary of State)
If the Secretary of State's Office is to post the information
separately from the Board of Elections, the fiscal impact is up
to $25,000 annually to build and maintain the search features
and database for election authorities, update the voter regis-
tration form periodically, and maintain the information on the
          web site.
          STATE MANDATES NOTE
(Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs)
In the opinion of DCCA, HB 5956 does not create a State mandate
          under the State Mandates Act.
