Short description: 
EDUC EXPENSES- CRIM JUSTICE                                                

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Creates the Career Criminal Justice Attorney  Education  Expenses      
   Repayment  Act.   Provides for annual stipends of $3,500, adjusted for      
   inflation, for a maximum of 5 years to  assistant  State's  attorneys,      
   assistant  public  defenders, assistant appellate defenders, assistant      
   appellate prosecutors, and assistant attorneys general  for  repayment      
   of  education loans. Provides for an additional 7 years of stipends of      
   $5,000 annually.  Effective immediately.                                    
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
          Deletes reference to:                                                
          New Act                                                              
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          110 ILCS 947/65.70 new                                               
        Deletes everything after the enacting clause.  Amends the  Higher      
   Education  Student  Assistance  Act.   Provides for annual stipends of      
   $3,500, adjusted for inflation, for a maximum of 5 years to  assistant      
   State's  attorneys,  assistant  public  defenders, assistant appellate      
   defenders, assistant appellate prosecutors,  and  assistant  attorneys      
   general for repayment of education loans. Provides for an additional 7      
   years of stipends of $5,000 annually. Effective July 1, 2003.
