Short description:
GENERAL ASSEMBLY FURLOUGH ACT

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Creates the General Assembly Furlough Act. Provides for a
one-time, temporary salary reduction equal to 1 working-day's salary
to be reflected in the paycheck received for the first pay period in
June, 2002 for each member of the General Assembly. Effective
   immediately.
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.
States that the intent of the General Assembly is that the
negative impact of the State budget shortfalls be partially absorbed
by the members of the General Assembly (instead of those persons in
State government who are in leadership positions). Defines "one
working-day's salary" as the member's base salary, as determined by
the Compensation Review Board, divided by 260. Deletes provisions
concerning pension, insurance, and other employee benefits.
