Short description: 
AMBULANCE SERVICE TAX                                                      

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends  the   Illinois   Municipal   Code.   Changes   population      
   requirements  to allow a municipality to levy a tax for the purpose of      
   providing  ambulance  services  pursuant   to   an   intergovernmental      
   cooperation  agreement with any other unit of local government. Amends      
   the Fire Protection District Act. Changes the population  requirements      
   to  allow  a fire protection district to levy a tax for the purpose of      
   providing  ambulance  services  pursuant   to   an   intergovernmental      
   cooperation  agreement  with  any  other  unit  of  local  government.      
   Effective immediately.                                                      
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Changes back to current law some of the  population  requirements      
   to  allow  a  municipality  to levy a tax for the purpose of providing      
   ambulance  services  pursuant  to  an  intergovernmental   cooperation      
   agreement with any other unit of local government.
