MAIL ORDER CONTACT LENS ACT

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Amends the Mail Order Contact Lens Act. Deletes the requirement
of an original signature of the licensed optometrist or physician from
the definition of "contact lens prescription". Provides that a good
faith attempt to comply with the provisions of the Act is a complete
defense to a charge of violation of the Act. Provides that good faith
is presumed where a licensee requests verification of the patient's
prescription and shows that the verification request was confirmed or
not responded to by the eye care professional who issued the
   prescription. Effective immediately.
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.
          Deletes reference to:
          225 ILCS 83/5
Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Mail
Order Contact Lens Act. Makes a technical change in a Section
concerning violations of the Act or its rules.
