Senate Sponsors: RAUSCHENBERGER Short description: EPILEPSY ASSISTANCE-TECH Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Epilepsy Disease Assistance Act. Contains only a short title provision. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Adds a declaration of policy; adds definitions. Creates the Epilepsy Advisory Committee. Provides that the Department of Public Health, in consultation with the Epilepsy Advisory Committee, shall develop standards for the identification, evaluation, diagnosis, referral, and treatment of victims of epilepsy and their families. Provides that the Department shall, pursuant to appropriation, provide grants-in-aid to regional epilepsy centers for research and the development and maintenance of services for victims of epilepsy and their families. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 2. Changes the definitions of the terms "regional epilepsy center" and "primary epilepsy provider" to require the presence of a physician in each.
