House Sponsors: MOORE. Senate Sponsors: CLAYBORNE Short description: MUNI CD-LEVY TAXES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Amends the provision governing the manner of levying and collecting taxes to require that on or before the last Tuesday in December each year the corporate authorities ascertain the total amount budgeted for and additional amounts deemed necessary for corporate purposes to be provided for by the tax levy for the nex fiscal year (instead of requiring the corporate authorities to ascertain the total amount of appropriations legally made or budgeted for an any amount deemed necessary to defray additional expenses and liabilities for all corporate purposes to be provided for by the tax levy "of that year"). Also eliminates the requirement that the levy ordinance contain the same details as the annual appropriation or budget ordinance, requiring instead that the ordinance specify the amount and purpose of the sums to be levied.
