House Sponsors: FOWLER. Short description: PROP TX-MULTI-TWP DIST-BUDGET Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Property Tax Code. Requires the board of a multi-township assessment district to make a tentative budget and appropriation ordinance available for public inspection at least 30 days before the public hearing required by the Illinois Municipal Budget Law. Requires the public hearing to be held on or before the last day of the first quarter of the fiscal year. Requires that notice of the hearing be given by publication in a newspaper published in the multi-township assessment district or, if no newspaper is published in the district, by posting notice in the 5 most public places in each township comprising the multi-township assessment district. Requires the township clerks to arrange the hearing. Allows the board to adopt all or part of the tentative budget and appropriation ordinance at the public hearing. Effective immediately.
