Short description: 
LIVE NEAR WORK ACT                                                         

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Creates the Live Near Work  Act.   Allows  the  Illinois  Housing      
   Development  Authority  to make grants from the Live Near Work Fund to      
   employers,   municipalities,   counties,   and   non-profit    housing      
   organizations  to  develop  and  implement  employer-assisted  housing      
   programs.   Requires  the  Authority  to  adopt  rules for determining      
   eligibility for  grants,  regulating  the  use  of  grant  funds,  and      
   reporting the results and impacts of the grants.  Provides that grants      
   may  be  used  to  match  employer  investments  in housing resources.      
   Provides that grants may be used  to  support  the  administration  of      
   employer-assisted  housing  programs.   Limits the amount of moneys in      
   the Fund that may be used  for  grants  to  non-profit  organizations.      
   Provides  that  the  Act  is  repealed  on  July  1,  2006.  Effective      
   immediately.                                                                
          FISCAL NOTE (Illinois Housing Development Authority)                 
          HB 504 requires the authority to esablish a fund to develop and      
          implement employer-assisted housing programs. The legislation        
          does not reference a funding level, and without specific infor-      
          mation regarding the scale and scope of the proposal, its fis-       
          cal effect on IHDA cannot be determined.
