PEN CD-CHGO FIRE-ATTORNEY FEES

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Amends the Chicago Firefighter Article of the Illinois Pension
Code. Provides that if a fireman whose application for either duty
disability benefits or occupational disease disability benefits has
been denied brings an action for administrative review challenging the
denial of those benefits and prevails in that action, the prevailing
fireman shall be entitled to recover from the Fund court costs and
litigation expenses as part of the costs of the action. Effective
   immediately.
          PENSION NOTE (Pension Laws Commission)
The fiscal impact of HB 420 cannot be determined, as the number
of firefighters who would recover court costs and litigation
expenses is unknown. According to the Fund, HB 420 is not
expected to significantly increase the annual cost of the fund.
