Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Amends the Medicaid Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code.
Authorizes Medicaid coverage of breast cancer screening and treatment
for persons who are enrolled and participating in a federally funded
screening and treatment program administered by the Department of
Public Health and who are eligible for that Medicaid coverage under
the federal Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Act of
   2000. Effective immediately.

Deletes everything. Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code with
provisions similar to those of the bill as introduced. Changes include
the following: (1) applies to persons who have been screened under the
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention breast and cervical
cancer early detection program (instead of persons who are enrolled
and participating in a federally funded breast cancer screening and
treatment program); (2) adds a requirement of Medical eligibility
under the Social Security Act; (3) provides for Medicaid coverage to
the maximum extent permitted under the federal Breast and Cervical
Cancer Prevention and Treatment Act of 2000 (instead of including
coverage of breast cancer screening and treatment during the time
that the person is enrolled and participating in federally funded
breast cancer screening and treatment program); and (4) adds a
requirement of federal approval of the Medicaid coverage, and
requires the Department of Public Aid to appy for federal approval
   of the coverage. Effective immediately.
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 2.

program were funded in whole or in part by funds appropriated to the
Illinois Department of Public Health for breast or cervical cancer
screening; and (2) provides that medical assistance under this
provision must be identical to the benefits provided under the State's
approved plan under Title XIX of the Social Security Act (instead of
must be provided to the maximum extent permitted under the federal
Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Act of 2000).
