   HENDON.

   New Act                                                                     

        Creates the Electronic Privacy Act.  Allows an  employer  to  use      
   electronic  surveillance  to  collect  any  information so long as the      
   information  is  collected  at  the  employer's   premises   and   the      
   information  is  confined  to  the  employee's  work, with exceptions.      
   Requires an employer that engages in any type of electronic monitoring      
   to provide prior written notice to all employees who may be  affected,      
   with exceptions.  Requires employers that engage in random or periodic      
   monitoring   of  employees'  communications  to  inform  the  affected      
   employees of the specific events that are being monitored at the  time      
   the monitoring takes place, with exceptions.  Also includes provisions      
   concerning  private areas, disclosure, non-retaliation, private rights      
   of action, injunctions, and the waiver of rights.  Provides  that  the      
   Attorney  General  has the authority to investigate alleged violations      
   of the Act.  Provides that a  violation  of  the  Act  is  a  business      
   offense with a fine of not more than $2,000.
