   40 ILCS 5/5-167.4         from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 5-167.4                    
   30 ILCS 805/8.26 new                                                        

        Amends the Chicago Police Article of the Illinois  Pension  Code.      
   Increases  the  minimum annuity payable to widows, from $800 to $1,200      
   per month.  Amends the State Mandates Act  to  require  implementation      
   without reimbursement.  Effective immediately.                              
          PENSION NOTE (Pension Laws Commission)                               
          The fiscal impact of SB 1589 has not been calculated, but is         
          estimated to be relatively minor.
