BRUNSVOLD.

   720 ILCS 5/24-8                                                             

        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that a law enforcement      
   agency that requests a firearm's  trace  shall,  within  a  reasonable      
   time,  but  no  later  than  60  days  after  the  termination  of the      
   investigation for which  the  trace  was  initiated  or  records  were      
   requested  or immediately upon the initiation of criminal proceedings,      
   serve the person who was the subject of a records  request  or  search      
   with  an inventory containing certain information. Permits the circuit      
   court, upon motion, to order the destruction of all records associated      
   with the trace request, except records required to be kept  under  the      
   federal  Gun  Control  Act  of 1968, the Criminal Code of 1961, or the      
   Firearm Owners Identification Card Act or  records  pertaining  to  an      
   open  and  active  criminal  investigation  or  proceeding.  Effective      
   immediately.
