CURRIE-LANG. 35 ILCS 200/16-180 Amends the Property Tax Code. With respect to the Property Tax Appeal Board, provides that, where property is classified for purposes of taxation and a classification ordinance has been adopted, the correct assessment for property other than residential property of 6 units or less shall be determined by debasing the market value of the subject property by the ordinance level of assessment for that class of property. Removes references to "board of appeals". Effective immediately. FISCAL NOTE (Department of Revenue) HB 4137 would not create a fiscal impact for the Department nor would it impact any of the taxes the Department is required to administer and collect. STATE MANDATES NOTE (Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs) In the opinion of DCCA, HB 4137 creates a due process mandate for which reimbursement of the increased costs to units of local government is not required under the State Mandates Act.
