SOTO-OSTERMAN. 10 ILCS 5/13-2.5 new 10 ILCS 5/14-4.5 new Amends the Election Code. Provides that persons serving as election judges may be absent from work after giving 20 days' written notice to their employers. Provides that an employer may not penalize an employee for an absence to serve as election judge other than a deduction in salary for the time the employee is absent from the place of employment. Exempts employers with fewer than 25 employees. Provides that an employer with 25 to 100 employees need not permit more than 2 employees to be absent on the same election day. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that employers with more than 100 employees shall not be required to permit more than 3% of the employees to be absent on the same election day to serve as election judges. FISCAL NOTE, AMENDED (State Board of Elections) House Bill 3810, as amended, would have minimal fiscal impact on the operations of the State Board of Elections.
