 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are  saddened
 3    to  learn  of  the  death  of Floyd A. "Johnny Boy" Sumila of
 4    Danville, who passed away June 23, 2002; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr. Sumila  was  born  September  22,  1915,  in
 6    Danville,  the  son  of John and Agitha Manicki Sumiloski; he
 7    married Sally Noel on September 30, 1939, in Hegeler; and

 8        WHEREAS, Mr. Sumila was a member of Holy Family  Catholic
 9    Church and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, in which
10    he  was  a  3rd  degree;  he  served as House Chairman of the
11    Knights of Columbus for 13  years;  Mr.  Sumila  was  also  a
12    member of the Westville American Legion Post #51; and

13        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Sumila  loved  being  with  his family and
14    enjoyed playing golf and baseball, and he  was  a  St.  Louis
15    Cardinals  fan;  he had played baseball in the PNA League and
16    with the Chicago White Sox farm clubs in Texas,  New  Mexico,
17    and  Wisconsin; Mr. Sumila umpired in the Twilight League for
18    12 years for $2 a game; Mr. Sumila also enjoyed  his  morning
19    coffee group at McDonald's; and

20        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Sumila  had worked for Hegeler Zinc for 20
21    years in the Rolling Mill and then as a  route  salesman  for
22    Depke  Welding  Supplies  for  32 years, retiring in 1986; he
23    served in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1943-1946  as  a
24    corporal; and

25        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Sumila  will be deeply missed by all those
26    who knew him and loved him, especially his wife,  Sally;  his
27    three  sons,  Edward  C.  (Chris) Sumila, Gary J. Sumila, and
28    John (Tina) Sumila; his brother, Leonard (Mary)  Sumila;  his
29    sister,  Mary  Zielinski  Grey;  and his three grandchildren,
30    Nicholas, Bryan, and Traci Sumila; therefore, be it

31        RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-SECOND  GENERAL

 1    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
 2    his family and friends, the death of Floyd  A.  "Johnny  Boy"
 3    Sumila; and be it further

 4        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 5    presented to the family of Floyd A. "Johnny Boy" Sumila  with
 6    our sincere condolences.
