92_SR0511 LRB9217883HShs 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened 3 to learn of the death of Harvey Eugene Henderson on 4 Wednesday, August 28, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, He was born on September 13, 1940 in Brookhaven, 6 Mississippi, the son of Prim Rose and Marco Henderson; he was 7 united in marriage to Castella Lewis on December 27, 1969; 8 and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Henderson was known as "Flash" by his family 10 and friends; he was a graduate of Lincoln Senior High School 11 in East St. Louis; he received a bachelor's degree in 12 geography with emphasis in urban planning from Southern 13 Illinois University in Edwardsville; he received a master's 14 degree in public administration from Sangamon State 15 University in Springfield; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Henderson was an active and energetic civic 17 leader and was employed by the City of East St. Louis as the 18 City Manager at the time of his passing; he was a licensed 19 real estate broker and had over 28 years of experience in the 20 field of housing and urban development; he served as 21 Executive Assistant in the Governor's Office and Executive 22 Assistant in the Mayor's Office, Springfield; he served as an 23 Administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban 24 Development, in St. Louis, Missouri and Executive 25 Administrator for the Housing Authority in St. Louis, 26 Missouri; and 27 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 28 and friends, especially his wife, Castella; son, Christopher 29 Wayne; mother, Prim Rose Henderson-Williams; father and 30 mother-in-law, Milton and Willie Lewis; brother, Rufus 31 (Azalee) Henderson; two sisters, Patricia Henderson Shanklin 32 Campbell and Linda Marie Henderson; nieces, Mashaye -2- LRB9217883HShs 1 Henderson, Tanisha R. Henderson-Kirkwood, and Miquia S. 2 Henderson; nephews, Rufus Marco Henderson II, Charles James 3 Shanklin, Jr., Corey Coleman, George Coleman, and Larry 4 Coleman; therefore, be it 5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow 7 and regret the death of Harvey Eugene Henderson and extend 8 our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it 9 further 10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 11 presented to the family of Harvey Eugene Henderson.
